I'm so mad, I had a complete reply written up and my computer crashed and I lost it.
The a670 3spd has alot more aftermarket support for it then the 5spd mtx and the 4spd a604 atx. Being able to build the tranny alot stronger, be rid of the electronic tcm which controls the a604, LSD options, stall converters, it's the right way to build a transmission.
5spds have just been unable to lay down incredible amounts of power to this point, and that's where this trans comes into play. It's more gentle on the launch, can hook up far better with the LSD, stays in it's power band the entire time and the longer gears help spool a larger turbo with ease.
The a604 tranny would be able to do it as well, if the parts were made, but they're not, and it's a very fragile tranny (I've blown 3 before I swapped to the a670) The swap is actually easy too, probably about as difficult as going ATX to MTX 97 Dodge Avenger a670 reverse manual 3spd swap, 3400 stall, 2.2 stroker, zex setup, 8 fuel injector setup, t3/t4, turbonetics wastegate, and a slew of other mods to go fast BEST ET: TBD 03 srt-4 Stage 1, exhaust, TB, map clamp, wga and mbc.
