LAST EDITED ON 07-Nov-01 AT 12:24 PM (PST)

Hey,

I read this article on removing the speed limiter out of a
2G-turbo. Here's the site address---http://www.dsm.org/how-tos/speedlimiter.htm--- Will this also work on a 1999 2GNT?

There is no speed limiter on any 2GNT.

nope, get a turbo kit and you can go 160+. While our cars are N/A they seem to not want to go faster than 125 - 135. I have held the car at 135 for like 2 miles and it wouldn't go any faster.
The speed limiter you are talking about is on the GST eclipse. They can't go that fast due to a built in speed limiter in the computer. We use a completely different engine and computer.

There's a few places to check. www.hahnracecraft.com for the HRC kit. www.turbogs.com for the Star Kit. www.extreme420A.com for the Rage kit that isn't out yet. There is also going to be a NER kit but I haven't heard anything for a while on that. I would suggest you take some time and search the site in the turbo section for both Star and HRC and you will have enough info to read for a month. And don't post the question, which kit us better because both sides will say there kit is better.

Fastest I seem to get is 125 I believe, it scary fast though and highly illegal so hehe I try not to push it. hehe but if I manage to find myself in the middle of nowhere and a straight road as far as the eye can see, I'll floor that sucka find out what it can really do hehe ^_^ NA though 115 or 120 was the highest I could hit.

Maybe the 95s are the only ones without a speed governor? That might explain why nameless can only get to 130. Oh well I haven't broken the barrier yet anyway. Hehe don't forget to get some V or Z rated tires before you try it also hehe. emoji

No, Dino I was at 130 with more pull left in here when I was almost stock in my 97. I had 4 people and AC on. There is no governor any year.

I dont think the non-turbos have speed limiters. Ive taken my eclipse nearly upto 130 and it was gaining but slowly.. (downhill)... if anyone lives in the NY/NJ area check out Rt 287 at 3am in the morning... NO ONE IS THERE. And for the record I have taken a 1995 Galant ES with shit 30$ cheap ass tires to 140mph.. AND I LIVED!!! I dont know about that stuff with the Z rated tires, but if I managed to do it without perfomance tires I think removing the limiter shouldnt be a problem for safety (well that was on the site anyway).

Heh go ahead and go 130+ with your H rated or lower rating tires. Something called tread seperation happens emoji It's not a pretty sight I would imagine also.... That's why theres a speed limiter on the GST in the first place, because it comes with H rated tires.
