#64843, "9k tach on at"

I have a 9k tach for a 5 speed, can I use it on my AT which has a factory tach of 8k? If yes, will it just bolt right in and go or do I have to rewire etc.

should bolt right in, no problems as far as i know. The turbo gauges are a little different i do believe but... all the n/t's are the same (turbo being different becuase of additional oil and boost gauge)

technically speaking, it would NOT work. if you use a 9k tach on a NT(8k) the rpm would read higher than what it actually is. ntat max out at about 6.5k now if you use a 9k tach on it, it would look like its going to max at 7-7.5k. then again, this is technically speaking since i do not think the 9k tach is bigger to compensate for the extra grand and the fact that some of you say it will bolt right up just says its the same size.

It will work. The voltage input is still the same on A/T's M/T's, the tach output's it differen't.

yea i think it would work too, as long as u replaced the whole cluster and not just the overlays because the cluster would read the signal differently so it would show the correct rpm

Yeah, my response above is under the impression that he's replace the whole tach unit, and not the overlay.

yeah I want to remove my 8k tach completly and install the 9k tach completly. I just looks better showing 9k, and it only takes about 5 mins to do.
