Yes, having just one gear will be perfectly fine. Some have dynoed their gears, and if you are turbo, the exhaust cam adjustment sometimes doesnt do that much, so an intake only will be fine. IMO, from what i have seen, adjustable cam gears, money wise, really are not worth it. I have yet to see any gains over 10 HP using them. But if you want to squeeze out every last HP from the motor, then by all means..And I highly doubt you will be able to change the cam gear without at *least* loosening the tensioner. Depending on what crank pulley you have, you may have to pull that off to get access to the tensioner pluger bolts. Once you loosen those 2 bolts, the tension on the belt is released, and then you can take off the gear. You will then have to possibly reset your timing marks and all that, and re-tension the belt. If your timing belt covers are off and not using them, its really not that much work to get at the timing belt and componets...9 times out of 10, trying to take a shortcut, leads you to spend even more time than if you had not... 13.5 @108 MPH-2.2 60ft(stupid FWD!)
