#61965, "INDY manifold & Fast Fabrications manifold update"

Ok did a bit of research and although I posted this in another segment, I figured it belongs here so:
I spoke to Russ at Indy Cylinderhead last week, and although the guys said its been on the backburner because of neon projects, it WILL be out in early December just in time for the Indy Performance auto show. Its 2 piece cast aluminum design weighing around 10lbs.

Spoke to Jason at Fast Fabrications abot his Intake Manifold. Motofool will be selling them through him and yes those pictures he posted up a while back was a hand made prototype design. He'll send me updated pics soon also. This is a one piece plenum that attaches to your stock runners, thus making the install pretty simple and straight forward. The sheet metal intake manifolds arent easy to put on (relocate battery, redrill fittings for fuel rail, other parts etc, custom make new intake pipe etc), so if the same gains can be made from a tig welded plenum attached onto stock runners, without the hassle of installation, then thats one less headache. Both design use the curved runners as well.

Anywayz, the prices for both are not too bad, so just wanted to let you guys know.

Jason up at fast fabs used my car as fitment for the manifold. I've seen it up close and it looks real good. He also made a custom battery mount so we can run a smaller civic battery. I've talked to bill and jason and we r going to dyno it on my car so u guys can see the improvement on a turbo car and i think i found someone who will dyno it on a all motor car. Once we do this were beable to prove that it works. The manifold it self is one of his newest designs. The shape of the manifold helps make the flow even throughout all runners unlike the all round top ones that tend to give more air to 1st and 4th cylinder. I think with the price that they r asking it will be well worth it. Its bolts onto ur stock bottom runners they r slightly curved but isnt all that bad just gets those ported and polished out or something like that and it will make a huge difference for our cars.

for $500 dollars i can port and polish many, many things and also purchase other parts that will help much more than the single manifold. (I.e AF/X UDP, maybe a used nitrous kit, etc) Plus, if I spend that much money in one place, it better be bolt on and go. No way I'm buying something that requies even more money to be spent for it to actually work. Just my .02...

from what they said it was going to be like 300-350 i think which isnt to bad when some of u spend like 250 on a AEM intake

Yes, but if you already bought/done all those things and you have 500 bucks, then it would be alright to at least consider a manifold.

i live in Yadkinville about 1 1/2 hours away i think not real sure. Ok about the civic battery its smaller which means no more holes in the side of ur intake from riding on the battery holder post things. He does powdercoating so u can probably get it in a number of colors to match ur engine bay. Its a real nice box and it bolts right up to ur factory mounts.

The fast fabrications manifold is $300
The Indy Manifold will be $490
They're both made to be straight bolt ons.
estimated gains for both should be 30 whp.

You dont HAVE to use the civic battery, it could still work, the stock battery, itll just be real close.

Magnus Intake manifold adds 40 to 54 whp and you need to relocate your coil pack, wiring, battery to the back or get a lightweight one, and custom make a new intake pipe; so I think we have it alot easier than the 4G63 guys.

very interesting initialDSM. how did they estimate the whp? If they are going to be in production by december, I'm guessing they already have created a prototype with some dyno time. keep us updated

the indy manifold was not as impressive as all the neon owners thought black dogs stock runner hacked box intake made more power at every rpm then the indy manifold did...

the battery box is there so there is NO MORE FITAMENT problems the new design places the tb the same exact place as the stock TB is...

the restriction in the stock intake is not in the lower runners its in the upper half and the plenium..

these will come powedercoated any color you want or in raw aluminum.

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

I'm going to be the test car for his intake manifold but hes been busy and i had problems with my clutch and trying to get clutchmasters to fix it. so i'm having to do that and also putting on one of his turbo manifolds. once this is done which should be soon we r going to the dyno and doing a pull with the stock intake and with a fast fabrications intake on a all motor car and a turbo car.
