#57205, "RE: Ball arm boot recall... questions..." In response to Reply # 0
We had a few of these threads awhile ago and the answer seemed to vary depending the dealer. I know for one I took it once to the dealer in, maybe 2000 and they told me they had " checked it out, and all was fine." They only looked at it, didn't replace anything. I never got nothing in writing so I was screwed cause last Dec when I got the "creeking", I took it and they wouldn't cover it, because it was a "VIN specific recall" not an across the board fix. They showed me on thier computer, my VIN didn't come up nor any history of it being done. I know but that's what they stuck to. Still cost me total about $160. So if they do it for free, good. They should replace it 1000 times if needed because of the safety issue, but I warn you no garantee. It could be once and that's all. And it would be thier choice to replace the ball joint or the whole control arm. But regardless you should have that fixed. Hope that helps.
