57163, Ball arm boot recall... questions...
Posted by tacoman123, Aug-14-03 03:14 AM
I am about to go do the Ball Arm Boot Recall on my 1995 Eagle Talon ESi.

I have some questions, if anyone can answer them..

If I do it once, and then the boot tears, will they replace that?

Will they also replace the ball arm joint for free, since if the boot is damaged, dirt and what not can get in an damage the ball arm joint?

Do they HAVE to change the boot? What happens if its not damaged, will they still change the boot?

Thanks

We had a few of these threads awhile ago and the answer seemed to vary depending the dealer. I know for one I took it once to the dealer in, maybe 2000 and they told me they had " checked it out, and all was fine." They only looked at it, didn't replace anything. I never got nothing in writing so I was screwed cause last Dec when I got the "creeking", I took it and they wouldn't cover it, because it was a "VIN specific recall" not an across the board fix. They showed me on thier computer, my VIN didn't come up nor any history of it being done. :wary I know but that's what they stuck to. :rolleyes Still cost me total about $160. So if they do it for free, good. They should replace it 1000 times if needed because of the safety issue, but I warn you no garantee. It could be once and that's all. And it would be thier choice to replace the ball joint or the whole control arm. But regardless you should have that fixed. Hope that helps.

Oops, I mean the ball joint boot.

As anyone done it?
Will they let me do it more than once?
If I hack up my stock ball joint boots, then they will HAVE to replace it, right?
