#5621, "Help!!!!!! Clutch GRINDING sound!!!"

When I let the clutch out slowly, I sometimes get an awful "grinding" sound that I also feel through the clutch pedal...
Is this normal of a "race" clutch? Could it be my Quaife Differential?

Anyone know what the heck this is?

Drivetrain Specs: Clutchmaster Stage IV NON-Modular Clutch With 8lb Flywheel. Quaife ATB Differential. Stage III Axles.

Thanks!

I'd say yes, because there are no dampening springs on a race clutch. That makes it's engagement quick, hard, and violent. While slipping a race clutch, i'm sure it could make a grinding noise, all that taken into consideration.

I agree with Dino, I think they do say that their race clutch will make more noice than stock. The only other thing I could think of would be the alignment of the clutch disc... but like I said I thought they did say that the race clutch will make more noise.

I have a little noise with my CM stage 3 but it's more like a rattle when the clutch is out in Neutral. If I put the clutch in then it stops. No noise any other time that I can hear.

Well you guys are all correct and that is the clutch "chatter" sound.. I completely understand that and I get that *alot*..

However the sound I get is "grkhkhhkhkhkhkh" sound like "scraping the car over a bump" grinding noise...

The only things I could think of then would be that the clutch disc is misaligned between the pressure plate and flywheel. Or maybe the throw-out bearing is cocked ot bad... But maybe some one with the same clutch as you can shed some light on this...

I know the feeling three different rebuilt motors in my brothers car.
