#5136, "420a Neon question"

Sorry to post this here but I know this board better. My girlfriend's Neon is doing some wierd sh*t. I put some NGK's and Nology wires(got a reeeeaally good deal),dynomax muffler, and a short intake. When I floor it, it stutters. I can get it to backfire every now and then too. It's fine to drive around but it won't do it everytime. I can't find an RPM it does it at. I thought at first it might be wires, but it would miss at idle too. Feels like it's too rich but how can that be? Thanks!

Shit is all apart. Typical...

the wires suck? (just going for a guess, man emoji )

No good spark + no burn = rich conditions....

Maybe you didn't gap your plugs correctly. I bought plugs and gapped them and my car stuttered at anything over 1/2 throttle. I bought Bosch plugs that were pre gapped and since then my car has run fine. Too bad I went through 3 sets of wires and like 120 bucks before I figured out it was just the plugs emoji

My car did that same shit for a while. I had wires, so I changed the plugs to NGK's. Works fine now. Make sure there is no water on the oil dipstick. If so, head gasket. Check the plug wells out for oil. If there's a lot, maybe a valve cover or spark plug gasket. I installed new plugs gapped to OEM specs and then I tightened the valve cover bolts if they turned any. Fixed it. If none of this helps, I would get it checked.

Yeah I've actually heard bad things about those wires. I have Magnecores on my Eclipse and my Neon and they work good. Check the plug gap, and yes it probably is running rich, but unless you get an S-AFC there's not much you can do about it.
