#4900, "Exhaust help anyone?....."

I'm looking to buy a good exhaust system, but I need to know what to get. I went to a couple of(muffler) shops, but they couldn't really help much. I'm kinda interested in the pacesetter system, but I don't know much about it. On my last talon,(1gnt) I had a Dynomax system put on, and hated it. It sounded waaaaaay to ricey. I need to know what you guys suggest, so I can start spending some hard earned ca$h!
BTW, with a new cat back system, would it be best to leave the resonator on, or take it off??

In your pursuits of getting a good exhaust system, try not to go over 2.5 in. diameter cat-back piping. The resonator acts like a second muffler so if you leave it on, it does pose a little flow restriction but you get less noise. If you do take it off, well you get the idea. The cheapest way to go cat-back is to get a GOOD BRAND muffler (Apex, Tanabe, 5Zigen, Greddy, etc...), and have an exhaust shop do a custom cat piping for you. Tell them to try and not go over 2.5 in. because you will lose too much precious backpressure. Also make sure they mandrel bend the piping. Hope this helps!!!!! As far as the Pacesetter, in my opinion, looks kidda ghetto to me.

...but if you go turbo you will want 3". Although the bigger the louder. A 3" on our car sounds damn good and loud(not rice at all). JasonESi-T's setup is good with a turbo he has 2.75 and a muffler. It gives a little more performance and not too loud a bark while still sounding good(from what I'm told). Maybe he can help shed some light:)

Pacesetter is on a scale from 1-10, 10 being GReddy, Tanabe, Apexi, HKS, Pacesetter ranks a easy 2 or 3. I've seen em with broken/split welds on the headers, they don't look that good, and I've heard more horror stories than great satisfaction stories. There is a reason why they are so cheap compared to higher quality parts. If I was gonna get a cheaper exhaust than my Greddy Evo, then I'd have gone with an Thermal R&D, they're pretty good and a little cheaper.

Damn I was planning to get 2.5 but the dude at the muffler shop told me that I don't have room for that. So is it possible to do 3 inch on ours? I really want big piping. What's a good 3 inch muffler then? Thermal I heard is a good one any others? I really like those kevlar muffler thingies, but they look more expensive than fuctional.

If you have the money to spend, don't go with pacesetter. It sounds like crap and it doesn't look that great either. I have an Apex-i world sport setup on my car and I love the sound and the look.

For Jason's set up. He bought a Pacesetter system and hacket it up emoji He had a cherry bomb as a resonator welded into the middle section. used the Pacesetter piping and put an Aerospeed Muffler(I think?) with turned up tips. (which I stil don't know if I like emoji)

I would say go with the Thermal R&D cat-back of you just want to buy a bolt on. But you can probably do it cheaper if you find a muffler shop that can mandral bend piping.

I've decided I want a custom dual exhaust install, and I'm going to make another post on people opinions on that.
