Cams can only be ground so far on the stock cam, before you have to add material and this can be tricky, if not done right... dangerous.
Regrind to need to shim the lifters to ensure that the valves fully close. Removing material from cams makes the lobes smaller, so to make up for it you have to push the lifters up to get the rockers lifters and valves to make contact for the full rotation again.
You can't add as much variety to regrinds as you can billet cams.
Regrinds are a cheaper alternative to billet cams, but you can't get a radical with regrinds.
Bilet cams are made form a solid core, but they do cost more. Our cams DO NOT require indexing. They are drop in and go. Crane fixed their original set and now they drop in fine. I sent the sample to Crower and run a set of them, they drop in and are perfectly set and in time.
Billet cams you can get any spec, lift duration or overlap, without havning to worry about weakinging the cams or adding material.
If you just want a few ponies extra and don't plan on a lot of mods etc... Get a set of regrinds, and use Crower. But if you want rock-solid cams buy Crower or Crane billet cams.
