Well this is probably a dumb question but is there any difference in the block or even head design in the obd1 and 2 cars. I have an obd1 and want to know if i can swap in a block and possibly a head from and obd 2 car. Or is it just electronic differences. TIA

95 eclipse RS

14.80 @ 94mph with no turbo

95 and 96+ have very slight negligible differences in bearing caps and such. However, that's it.

I'm likely to be swapping a 95 neon block into my car after its's rebuilt. How's that for using something a little different?

I just got a 96 block rebuilt. The crank bearing oiling is different (actually better apparently - more oil) but the block itself is not different. I bolted all my 1997 I4 engine parts (crower rods, pistons, head, etc) to my "new" 96 block.

Some of the sensors have different connectors from OBD I to OBD II. Just use the stuff off of the old motor and you'll be fine.
