#3224, "auto tranny cooler ???"

LAST EDITED ON 12-Jun-01 AT 12:26 PM (PST)

i thought that our cars already had two radiators. one for engine and one for tranny. is that so or is one engine and one is a/c ? i found an auto tranny cooler that i would like to get and install but i have no clue how to even go about this. i am a person that likes to do precautionary things before going big. like engine work before turbo...tranny cooler before turbo or anything like that. here is a link to the coolers they are by B&M which one should i get ????

I've got a Perma-cool tranny cooler from the local auto parts store. It was $40 and took a couple hours to install. Its behind the drivers side brake duct. Here is a picture that describes the flow path (also for AT temp gage).

The AT cooler isn't hard to hook up. I made a bracket for it out of 1x1/8" aluminum bar. There is plenty of room in the drivers side. I also have an oil cooler in the passenger side brake duct. There is not much room there, so it took a while to mount. That cooler was about $80...no temp gage for it though. Bought it a "Pep Boys", maybe its a Perma-Cooler too...don't remember. That one uses a sandwich adapter that fits between the engine and oil filter. I had to get a shorter filter, so it wouldn't hang down (and snag on things).
