has anybody had any problem with the oil pump??? I think my oil pump has gone bad and might need to be replaced. Has anybody done this yet? if so, is it a hard thing to do? I think I need to change mine because some how I am losing oil pressure with a full level of oil. I also noticed that the brand new oil that I put in, turned very ugly with only less then 20 miles of driving on it. One of my friends even noticed some traces of very small aluminum flakes in the oil. Does any one know where this might be coming from? Any help is truely apprciated...

It's similar to doing the timing belt - that all has to come off, including the timing sprocket on the crank, for the oil pump to come off. Once all that's done, the oil pump is five bolts. it's like $90 from Howell, and it comes with a seal. The oil pan and oil pickup have to come off too.
You might just have a bad pickup o ring.
