ok i have a 1999 rs with a stage 1 star kit i was thinking of selling it for like 13 14 grand and getting a like a 1996-1999 with like 80-100k miles on it with good body and interior ,and take the money i made buy selling it and do a rebuild ,star stage 2 ,rims,and a body kit.if i sell it for 13,000 i will make about 4-5,000 in profit.do you think this is a good idea or what please help me out with your opinions

On our blocks, as long as your compression is good, you can turbo pretty safely no matter what, or so I hear. I believe mitsuman has 166k on his engine and is/was stage 2 hrc.

Good idea to sell it for 13k but would you have a buyer that would buy it? If so, then figure out if it would be worth the extra work and time to sell the car and buy another and rebuild. I am trying to sell my car, will post ads soon. But I will have to be patient to hope someone will give me the amount I want.

Dude, i see where you're coming from...but by the time you go through all this crap you're gonna have a higher mileage car....that's the point. Don't mess with it. Keep yours, save your money, build yours...that's what tuning is about.

Trust me...I'm hurting for mods too...but I'm not coming up with grand schemes that won't work. You won't get $13,000 for that car. I don't care what you have on it. I just bought a 99 RS with 60K on it and it's worth $9,000...and it's in great shape. So you're not gonna get an extra $4,000 for that kit. Now, consider that 1 out of every 10 potential buy MIGHT be interested in the fact that you've tuned the car...most people will say "Uhm...you've ADDED a turbo?" and think it's crap cause you did that.

So maybe you can find some dumbass rich kid to buy it from you...if you do, and you want to procede....go for it. You seem to be set in your ways no matter what we tell you. But the general concensus is to keep yours.

Even if you did find someone to buy the car for your asking price and got an extra $4k out of the deal, that wouldn't even be close to enough money for a rebuild, stage 2 turbo kit, rims, and a body kit. How much is the Star stage 2 kit, almost $3k? A rebuild will probably cost you more than a $1k even if you do most of the work yourself. A decent set of rims and tires will cost you around $1k as well. And I'm not sure how much body kits cost, but I'm sure they aren't really cheap and then you have to get it painted.

I'd say just save up some money and add mods to your current car.

i have a 1999 rs stage 2 turbo 47k miles on it i think i should ge atleast 12, right know i have spent 9,000 on everything for my car thats including the car.i have 18 inch rims star stage 1 gauges and other stuff you dont think i would get that mutch for it.the hole idea is to make money for a rebuild.and a nnother turbo kit.i dont know what i should do here if i sell it it will be for no less than 13,000 if i get that is it worth rebuilding a high miledge? car i dont no what i should do?

And let me tell you since it does not seem to sink in very well. In your mind your car might be worth 13k. It very well might be worth 13k. But unless you find someone that knows something about 2gnts and knows something about turbo kits then that kit almost decreases the value. People do not want a car that has been heavily modded because they are afraid the car has been hot-rodded and abused. Now I believe there is nothing more to discuss. People have told you their opinion, but you seem too thick headed to listen to us. So quit posting crap like this if you don't want to hear our responses.

You havn't even been turbo that long why are you so intersted in a rebuild? Your car is reliable now and you have most of the things your talking about buying again. No one said anything about knowledge about our cars. It's simple economics. Common sense. If you could buy something for a quarter and then resell it for 50 cents after you used it, we'd all be millionaires and we wouldn't have to worry about a measly 3 grand for a turbo kit.

Simply put, *most cars depreciate (www.m-w.com for the meaning). The second you drive off the lot, you've lost money. Therefore, since you won't make money on your car, your idea won't work.

BS. I considered trading my car in 2 years ago, and they would only offer me $7500 for my GS, which came with more options than your RS did. At that time, my car was in excellent condition, minus the turbo kit, and also had fairly low miles.

The dealership does not care what mods your car has on it, they will still only offer usually below blue book price on it. If anything, having the turbo kit on the car will lower the value to commercial dealers.

So that leaves you with the one in a million chance that you'll find a sucker that wants to overpay you for your stage I turbocharged RS. In reality, you'll never sell that car for more than about $8k. And EVERYONE knows that.

just to let you guys no a gain iam not selling my car.that 7,000 is for a trade in you get raped trading any car in.the reason i had this idea is case i look on ebay and i see 23,28,32 people biding on late model eclipse with just a bbody kit and some rims for like almost 9k.
