Go and read eclipse804's post about his dyno results after the head work, we have some info there. I have become a little scepticle about head work on an all motor app, for the moment. at least on stock cams. With a good set of cams (like Crane Drag grind) I think it will help. The duration on these should be long enough that you can pull in the airflow. But with the enlarged airflow passages I think the airflow has slowed down too much to really pack the air in the combustion chamber with the stock duration cams. The same volume of air is being flowed to the head and with the enlarged volume of the head the air slows down too much.
I think my new plan for an NA head is just to mill the head to boost compression, and maybe port match the head to the intake manifold and exhaust manifold/header, and maybe do a little smoothing of the airflow surfaces.
You're friend should sign on and share his thought if he has a good understanding of airflow I'd love to discuss it with him. I'm going off a basic engineering/physics knowledge etc. Nothing specific. I'd love to see what he thinks, maybe he could shed some light on this for us.
