#2070, "Lower compresion pistons on a NA car"

well, i have decide to build the bottom end before I go boost and was wondering if i drop in a lower compresion piston will i lose hp? i cant afford both piston/rods & turbo at the same time so im going the safe way out and doing the pistons first. thanks

about 4% power loss for every point of compression lost. I like 9.1:1 CR. On our 2L at 8.6:1(-1 C point) you are about 134 flywheel HP. Remember this though: boost is more efficient than compression(I bet several of you are sick of me saying that:))

Yup you wont loose much from a half point drop so go ahead. Your doing it the right way too. Bottom end then turbo.

As for skrilla repeating "boost is more effeicent than compression". Proof positive your recovering nicely from the ass whipping emoji I think I even stole that one once.

Really the best thing to do in your situation is to buy the internal parts now, and wait to have them installed until the turbo kit gets there. That way you can still buy the stuff to spread it out, and keep your 140horses. Or wait till you can afford both at the same time.

The only reason I would see for installing the new pistons now is if you blew your engine but couldn't afford the turbo kit yet.

Actually Saber, I have 9.5:1 JE Pistons. They were custom emoji

I just wanted to be slightly *different*. We'll see if that was a smart move or not soon enough!

The 0.1 drop in compression was just for fun!
