2070, Lower compresion pistons on a NA car Posted by DarkHumor, May-19-01 02:56 PM well, i have decide to build the bottom end before I go boost and was wondering if i drop in a lower compresion piston will i lose hp? i cant afford both piston/rods & turbo at the same time so im going the safe way out and doing the pistons first. thanks | |

2071, Yup... Posted by Skrilla, May-19-01 03:02 PM about 4% power loss for every point of compression lost. I like 9.1:1 CR. On our 2L at 8.6:1(-1 C point) you are about 134 flywheel HP. Remember this though: boost is more efficient than compression(I bet several of you are sick of me saying that:)) | |

That way you can still buy the stuff to spread it out, and keep your 140horses. Or wait till you can afford both at the same time. | |
