#137383, "Oil leak after replacing the valve cover gasket"

I am going to describe this the best I possibly can. I have just replaced the vavle cover gasket, making sure it stayed seated in the valve cover while putting it down, and making sure to not over tighten the bolts. But on the driver side of the head, the back cam there is a lip on the head which I can see oil puddling up there and I can smell it sometimes. Is there a seal I missed or did the gasket not seal right? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

With it being a rubber gasket I didnt think that it would need rtv anywhere. Where is it supposed to have some?

You are describing the aluminum half moon. There are specified points, as mentioned, that small amount of RTV is required. Consult manual.

Exactly what Dave said. I took the aluminum half moon out and resealed the whole thing because it was leaking from there.

Thank you for that link, I guess I should have not assumed that it did not need any.
