#124488, "head gasket change, scary for me anyway"

this is a easy thing to bo but im kinda scared. last time my car would mot start for the life of it when i did the build. i had to take it to three different shops to try to get it started and i dont want to go through that again.
tho uneducated I put a cheap head gasket on instead of the MLS and now im paying for it.(i was a newbe) its been leaking for a year and going turbo is not good with this leak. i have drain the lifters until you can push them with your finger, Right? pt Lifters, do they make a difference? I am useing copper spray because i have heard nothing bad about doing it.
im posting this because im scared that my car wont start after this again and i need to vent lol

arp
MLS( ive read that id can hold up boost really good)
new belt

After removing the head it is a good idea to check the deck for flatness - making sure you are not reinstalling a warped head. ARP hardware in my mind is a must. Many here will say to trust the MLS gasket from the dealer. Cometic is a good brand as well. Take your time, make sure everything is clean. It will go smoothly.

Additional things to consider replacing:
T-Belt (you mentioned that)
Cam seals - they are cheap - buy OEM ones
Depending on mileage, a water pump, idler/tensioner bearings, and associated T_belt components.

i played it smart with everthing other than the head gasket. new remanufactured head (it was so nice), oil and water pump.
lol and about me being scared, i am for real. i went trough hell on my first build because it wouldnt fire and i think i did the timing about 20 times and thats real numbers.
what about the lifters, i have to bleed them like i said, right?
The one thing that sucks is i have to wait a month to fix it because my roomate got a DUI and i have to dive him around for that month.(Im just venting, sorry lol)

I LOVE YOU TOO!!!!!

This is where im getting the MLS, what do you Think??

Bad idea. Not saying the felpro is necessarily a bad idea (I have no experience here to comment based on) but CI is notorious for being slow as shit.

Go here:

https://www.mitsubishiparts.com/oe_parts_catalog.html

You can get the OEM HG shipped for the same price CI has the felpro w/o shipping. You'll have an OEM gasket trusted by all and you'll have good customer service with quick shipping. I've probably placed 20 orders with them over the past few years and always got parts fairly quickly considering I'm on the other side of the country and they typically didn't have what I was buying in stock.

Two + weeks to get non-oem part from a less than helpful vendor or less time to get an oem part with a good reputation

I went with the fel pro head gasket kit. Best in my opinion, I have never had trouble with all the rebuilds I have done, very good quality. Also, they are the largest gaskets as far as the intake manifold and exhaust mani goes, if you have port work done.

i have one more question. i bored my engine .20 over can i still get a reg stock head gasket?
If i have to can someone point me to where i can get it because i looked. imo i think .20 is not a big change like a .40 and thats why they make hg for that size.

I just wanted to clarify something for dalesmitsu.

Its not an Apexi HG. Its an Apex. Kinda like Fel-Pro or what not.

At least I think thats why he was getting excited over it emoji
