So, after careful consideration, I figured I would start at my least likely choice (to saty on the shield), Rustoleum. I figured that I use it for just about everything else, so why not try it here. If it doesn't work I'll work my way up.
Well, first I painted it (3 coats) and did a little heat cycling (left it on my garage heater for 15 minutes between coats). I then put it on the car and cycled it on the car (idled for about 10 minutes). Here is how it looked;

Hmm, not too bad. So I ran her around for a little bit (a little more than 500 miles) and this is how she looks now;

Not too bad. You can see that it has lost some of its luster and it has gotten darker by the points of attachment (i.e. the bolts), but it does still look pretty good. I figure if I wanted to, I could put some big washers under the bolts to help hide the darker spots. I guess these don't get as hot as the 4g63's, lol.
