WHEW! i was starting to worry about every little whirring sound, thinking i messed something up. Would investing on a windage tray for the oil pan be a good thing, just to prevent anything from happening later on? how much do they run for?

Think about it. The oil light comes on when there is low oil pressure. When the engine is not running, the oil pump is not turning, and therefore the oil pressure would be zero.
