my egt is reading strange, at idle i should be around 800F correct? it used to work now, at idle its at like 600f and crusing its like 800~950F this im sure isnt right, what could be wrong, the probe? or not getting enuff voltage?

Also check to make sure the needle is tight and not barely loose, before I had this problem too and the nut holding down the probe was loose and the probe was jiggling around.

Gauge is probably failing. If it's an AutoMeter gauge, call them and explain what it's doing. They'll probably ask you to send it in and send you a new one. Walt from AutoMeter is awesome.

Yep, I've had a couple Autometer gauges go bad on me. Their support is great, but I ended up selling the replacement gauges Autozone sent me (brand new in retail boxes, points to Autometer!) and switching to VDO because I couldn't afford Greddy.
Keep in mind your EGT probe is expected to last about as long as an o2 sensor... so replace it every 30k-60k miles or so.
I STRONGLY recommend the TRE probe, which works with any K-type thermocouple system (Autometer, VDO, Greddy, just about everything) http://teamrip.com/accessories.html I guarantee you will be floored by how slow your old probe reacted once you install the TRE one.
