Well it is time to tear apart the motor.
I have alot of problems with the motor so
I just decided that I will tear it apart
and start my build up.
Well the car is leaking oil and the trans
mounts are busted up so I need to get them fixed.
This does not look good, yea this is oil all over the under carage.
I thought it was from the time my oil filter fell off because they did not
put it on right when I went for a oil change.
I see oil driping but I am not sure where it is from.
There is no room inbetween the fire wall and engine so
I can't see anything.
I might have to pull out the whole engine.

Well I am about to start to pull the head.
So far all I did was set the #1 piston at tdc
then I ran into a problem turns out my floor jack is no
good so now I have to wait to see if some one can loan me one.
So far this is all that I got done.

Well I worked on the car some more today.
Looks like I need a new belt.
Took of a few things. Took of the tb today.
I am not sure what I want to with the tb maybe I will get one from a jeep
and make it fit. I got sprayed with fuel dang fr had a small amount left in it.
Now I need to get a jack and take off the motor mount.
I am just wondering how the heck I will take off the exhaust pipe.

Great start!

I would definitely redo the head like we talked about.

Check partsdinosaur.com, they have a great price for the timing belt and tensioner package emoji

what pipe? The downpipe? It should be easy to remove from the head, just make sure you spray the bolts good with wd40 or pblaster. You already have the exhaust mani cover off, just use an extension to unbolt all the bolts holding the mani onto the head. If you mean the bolts between the dowpipe and the cat, well good luck getting those off, they've always been a bitch for me.

BTW, if you need some new motor mounts, I may have a set for you emoji PM if interested

ouch, good luck. I usually end up just cutting them apart with a grinder and cutting wheel but then drilling those bolts out are a HUGE PITA

The bolts from the front exhaust pipe to the cat were the easiest ones for me. It was the bolts after the cat that were rusted to hell.
If your replacing the exhaust then just cut it out.

I think I will take my time on my engine build.
I wan't to have one of the cleanest engine bays.
Think I want to relocate the fuse box and some wires and stuff.
I just wan't some light mods.
Let me see I am thinking header, bored tb, cams rods & pistons, valves, valve springs, retainers, valve guides, high flow fr, fpr,
3g fi, oil pan, cat back exhaust, radiator. Ideas on my build?
Well my goal is to keep it on the road more than a week.
Really I wan't to just rebuild every thing, I wan't to add as much
hp as a could with out a turbo.

I can't be clearer when I say, you cannot do this without a tuner. The best overall choice would be MSnS. IMO, this should be one of your first mods in the progression.

if you are tearing everything apart anyway, you should just convert it to a manual.

Took off some more parts.
Oil all over the im must have been from when I had a bad v/c gasket.:hmm:
This car is going to tick me off already.:banghead:
Did not see any oil around any area of the head so now I am not sure if my gasket is bad
but it is too late now and it needs to be changed already any how. So the next step is pull off the head and look for other leaks and fix them. :aha:

Bad sri filter well the rubber part fell off.

fixed it took off that ruber part and cut half off and wraped it around the sri and then I stuck the filter in and turned it until it was stuck on so it should do for now.:p

Got the car started up but the timeing is off.:banghead::notgood::sosad:

Well I decided that I am just going to take the whole block apart and rebuild it from the bottom up. As you can see it is not running good emojitgood: Atleast I know when it is rebuilt it would have all new parts and it will run pretty good.

that's what I was seeing on my first engine right before it crapped out.

my new engine tests out around ~190 across the board and I've seen fresh rebuilds go over 200

lower compression builds for turbos are usually around ~180

I just finished a high compression build (10.5:1), and have yet to break the new engine in. First compression check was done today and got 210 across the board. Is this normal? Thanks

Where's the bitchslap smiley when you need it?

Why the hell would you want to put GM junk in your car?

Is it possible? probably.
Will it cause MOUNTAINS of headaches just trying to get it to work? Almost definitely

Like Ronin said, Chrysler does not and has never had anything to do with GM. The three big American automakers are/were Ford, GM, and Chrysler. I assume you're thinking Dodge was/is a GM brand, but Dodge was actually bought by Chrysler in the 30's to be transformed into its truck line. Then of course, they launched Plymouth & Eagle later on. And they bought Jeep's parent company (can't remember what it was) in the late 70's. So, no, GM and Chrysler are competitors through and through.

Yes.

Cool, I just saved from a pillow beating. ha ha
These guys do mean well, they dont want you to mess your car up.

Try, posting the 2.4 atx swap question is the A604 area.

do a search by typing 2.4 auto swap or 2.4 auto either on here or on a search engine.

You might have better luck with the search engine on a site, example yahoo since this is what I use most.

I'm really sure about the 2.4 auto swap, it would cool if it does bolt up. Its probably strong than the a604, this would interesting I have an a604.

Keep us updated on your build,

I think an SRT4 swap will work nicely But use our 420a head instead of the SRT one.

Will it be cheap...NOPE...but it would be nice

He's talking about using the auto transmission from a 2.4 into a 420a not the motor swap.

Seriously? With a whole sub section devoted to the ATX and the search feature, not to mention any number of repair manuals available to you, you are asking what fluid to use?

No shit, it fixed it huh???

After 2 hours of chat last night, of me an mikey telling this guy atleast 25 times, his trans fluid leak was because of the shitty condition hoses/clamps and not to mention using zip ties instead of clamps on one end of the hoses, you finally decided to listen to us and put on new hoses, and your leak is now fixed.

Imagine that. Now all that name calling you were blabbing around in chat towards us, who looks like the clown now?

I installed about 5 new trans hoses fixed that problem
Now I need fluid. Next up look for other leaks and fix that.

Next up install the im gaskets later on buy a new oil pan
my has a dent in it from where I hit a bump in the past.
Maybe after I fix all the small things I will install a 4 2 1 header.

No, the car does not hate you. It is called operator error - not reattaching hoses/lines that you removed in the first placed or reusing shitty condition parts. The equivalent of taking your old oil filter off and either reusing it or forgetting to reinstall a new one.
