Well, here's the scoop. I just finished building my engine with the following components:
Je 8.8:1 pistons Je pro-seal rings Eagle rods Acl main and rod bearings Melling oil pump Felpro Mls headgasket ARP main and head studs PT lifters and rockers
That's the basics anyway. Head bolts are torqued to 90 ft/lbs, and I did use copper gasket spray on the headgasket. So I put the engine in on Saturday, fired right up first try, idled perfect. Immedeately adjusted the aeromotive to 45 psi, which put my idle afr right at 14.7. I let it run for about 20 minutes, then changed the oil and filter. After that, I took it out and did 20 pulls from 30-65 mph and then compression braked back to 30. I've got almost 200 miles on it so far, with no leaks, no smoke, and no sign of anything wrong. It runs like a champ. I did the full build by myself, and it was my first time, so I'm extremely happy so far.
I also switched from the sfmu to the portfueler, got an underdrive pully, and a wideband during the build.
Now, for a few questions. What I have been doing so far, is just normal stop and go driving, with a little boost here and there (5psi), usually right before I park it. Is this type of heat cycling good for ring seating? Should I be doing something else? I've read so many different opinions that I just chose to do what I felt safe with. I plan on running 15psi daily, occasionally 20. Let me know what you guys think, and I'll get some pics up as soon as I get a chance.
