I bought the long rods from howell, as well as the custom made pistons, the reason being is that after some research I found out that you would hold some low end torque and that it would help you with reving higher.
You are building the head to stand the high revs, so that is good... like someone said before me, to extend your rev limit MSnS will help, I was told by somebody that the stock rev limit is 7800 (spark goes out), but we hit fuel cut at 7200, so with MS you should be able to move the fuel cut line and the spark, personally if you ask, I am only moving it 200rpm, so it is 8000rpms, but as Terry said, the factory redline in most cases is enough, but all engiens are different and depending on your setup you might want to rev higher, IMO.
but from there on everything should be the same, if you order the pistons (longrod pistons) from howell, make sure you get the spacers, I know Corbin used to have oil issues because he didnt know he had to install them, this is due to the piston pin being moved up a bit.
good luck dude, keep us updated, you have a similar build to mine, this should be fun, lol I wish I had blown it, believe me, I do...
