I'm wiring new gauges & I was wondering if there is a wire around the steering column for illumination, vs having to take out my head unit to figure out which one I used 8 years ago, when I installed my stereo system.

the easiest place to hook the wire for your gauge light (the way i did mine anyway) is to use the wire that goes to your cigarette lighter..

find a green wire with a white stripe on it. thats the illumination wire. if you use that one, your gauges will turn on when you turn your corner lights and or headlights on. you can find one by the cruise switch behind it, or next to the gauge bezel. or anywhere the dash lights up really.

I used the one on the foglight switch works good and is close to the pillar.Just what I did though.

like stated, green wire with white stripe, you can tap onto it right at the drivers fuse box
