Hey guys, I'm new here. I mostly just use the search funtion cause most of my questions have been asked 50 times, so i save bandwidth and just search. But I just wanted to post thing, to let everyone know. I use to drive a galant and had 2 JL 12W0, JL powerwedge box, Phoenix Gold 500.2, JVC cd player and JVC digifine EQ. Well anyways, when i was at work 3 weeks ago someone broke into my car and stole everything out of my trunk and ripped my faceplate of my cd player and eq (that one doesnt come off). So when I found out, I called the police then got home and called my insurance company. They refused to cover the stereo although I have theft insurance, reciepts and pictures of everything. They said they would pay for the broken window, but they didnt cause that was below my deductable. Im still pissed off about it. Although I will rebuild my stereo in my eclipse, and it will be better than what I had before, just will take time and money.
I just wanted to let everyone know, that although you may have theft insurance, I'd highly recomend calling the insurance company and make sure your stuff is covered. It sucks finding out everything was a complete loss. I know when I rebuild, I am insuring everything, taking pictures and saving reciepts on everything I add to the car. Later guys...

i couldnt agree more. insurence companies are there specifically to make money, and they WILL rip you off if they deem your gear not neccisary to the revival of the car.
make sure you keep reciepts and take pics of you and the gear with the seriel numbers visible. contact the insurence and make sure they cover everything in the car...it may cost a bit more but it might be worth it in the long run.

hmmm sounds to me that you could still get them to pay for it as long as you have recipts. I know people who have done this several times, successfully. consult a lawyer, make that consult more than one lawyer to get diferent opinions.

Thanks guys. I checked my policy and it said it does NOT cover aftermarket products including audio. Should I still bother to fight it? Or am I all done?

It specifically says I am not covered. I am not going to bother. I will just rebuild with better things. And will make sure I bolt and insure everything I buy.
