My friend just came over with a decible meter.....my 2 Kenwood 12's with a 300 watt amp hit 114 decibles. It was a lil distoted cuz i need a bigger amp...but i was happy cuz my friend has 2 Pioneer IMPP 12's with a 600 watt amp and his only hit 119 dec.
So how many decibles are yalls systems if u have checked it with a meter???

1 15" Eclipse aluminum sub with about 2000 watts to it, in a small sealed box, hitting about 144+ db's. In my old grand prix, i had 2 of these subs and at db drag comps was hitting 150+ db's. I used an audiocontrol spl meter to measure..I am planning on building a nice ported box for the 15, should give me a few more db's, but I'm gettin more into being fast instead of going deaf!!

Just to let you know the dB system is a exponential function. Once you start to get much higher than 100 dB (not sure of exact point) the actually loudness versus dB gets weird. Like you double the loudness and only gain 1 dB this would happen at very high dB ratings but you get the point. So the difference between 114 dB and 119 dB is larger than the linear relationship you are figuring it to be.

my system can be as lound as you can take it.. but probably not lound enough for some of you experienced fellas.. but i bet it could get lound enough to cause headaches..

I haven't put a meter to it, but i can't see out of the rear or side views with it up and my poor radar detector bounces off the windshield.

I've got 2 Fosgate Punch Power 15" dvc's and a Phoenix Gold XS 2500. I don't know the actual loudness but its pretty loud. I just need a bigger amp(or 2).

I have never had mine checked, but i have 3 10inch kicker comp vr's in my car now pushed buy 1000 watt alpine v-12 amp and it just pounds. it recently destroyed my altenator and i now have to replace that, but oh well

i think its every 3 dB's is double... 133dB is twice as loud as 130dB.

i'm in the high 140's with my two 8" Olympus Subs riding of the head unit.

just kidding, i have a couple Hx2's from RF and a punch500a2 from RF.

Actually the equation goes like this....say your pushing 142 with a 1000 watts behind it, to get a 3dB bump you effectively have to double your power.....or do some serious engineering changes to your enclosure.....but that's the standard guidline, 3dB= a double in power...... Best bet if you have the cash is to find a damn good installer....my boy that designed my box spent about a month working numbers together to get max efficiency out of it, he took everything including the vloume of air on the car into account, it was a pain, but in the long run it worked out. One thing if you not worried about weight to badly is definitely Dynamat, it kills the standing waves and things of that nature that will have an adverse effect on your sound.

All I gotta say about mine is, I love watching the arrow turn signals bounce, I love the air rushing through my car and moving my hair, and I love watching cigarrete smoke bounce inside the car. Its great. I put almost 2g in to mine just for amp, deck, subs, and alarm.

No, dB is a measure of pressure...not power through the amp. dzavenge was right. every 3 dB gain is double the "volume level"(pressure) not double the power.

HAHAH i got you all beat i hit 167 db's with 2 kicker solo baric L7's in a sealed box pushed by a rockford fostgate power series t10001bd amp running 1000 watts rms in my 01 eclipse. im in the process of planning demensions for a slot ported dual box for them to hit even louder with the space im working with and another 1000 watts. if any ones interested in this system its for sale hit me up.

ask a stereo place what my system should hit i have two diferent papers stating what decibal i hit clearly. wasnt a shitty cheaker and my systems not junk i just got it like that and know my shit and how to make it work good. just 1 of my subs should easily hit 155db's under powered in a sealed box. ill look for my papers and see if i still have them they were in my car when it was totaled but hopefuly i have them and ill post them.

Sorry man, Rockfords been garbage since 1999 and Kicker has made a good solobaric since they were sound. Your system is not good, and I think I already know what meter you were on... the same one that thinks an Eclipse 15" off 4,000 watts in a crewcab truck is good for 176dB

I have pretty much the same system in my eclipse as i did in my explorer and I hit 143.8 at a car show. this was with 2 audiobahn 15"s, a jbl 1200.1 two optima batteries and 1 ga wire. Oh and the back seats were folded down lol.

exceleon h/u, eclipse audio 8 band parametric eq (5v out), and
a 1200 watt sony amp, streetwires wiring all thru a pair of
12" alpine typeR's wired in parrallel in a ported
enclosure....loud as hell...and thats for low end duty...

142.5 dbl with 2 pheonix gold 12 inchers and 800W pheonix gold amp all in a proted box that takes out my trunk. can listen like that all the time though, rearview mirror will constantly not stay up.

My car didn't even come with a radio when it was new. I went to have my shitty old Lanzar 12s installed with my old school Pioneer Premier flip down face deck (this was back in 1996, kids) and the car turned out to have speakers in it from the factory, even if you didn't get a radio. Sweet.

The system was stolen. It was replaced. The new system was stolen as well. No longer see the point. I don't like buying fucking thieves new equipment. I've got a box full of random 6x9s, 5.5s, 5.25s and tweets for the dash from Pioneer, Clarion and Alpine. They just collect dust on top of my parts car in the garage for now. Oh well.

Arguing over who's stereo system is the loudest, and doing so without spelling half the words you type correctly, is really weak. That's the sort of thing that keeps really smart people from wanting to participate.
