#1, "Booyah! Check this out!"

I spent all last night removing my amp, and sub from my system. I have a pioneer deh-4100 and 4 speakers (US Acoustics). First off, my engine was overheating with the sub hooked up. Strange...

I hooked the sub up, engine overheats. I take it off, no over heat. I did this about ten times for a couple of days. Wierd. I'll never buy a pep boys battery again. It looks like an optima will have top be shoved in there. The amp is useless with out the sub. The speakers sound better by them selves without the amp. Anyway, I took it all out. Man, I can't wait to get another battery. This absolutely SUCKS! I am so use to "brain stem loosening" bass and soul crushing midrange/highs, that the receviers power is not even worth listening to unless your not moving. I swear, it sounds great in the garage. But once you get up to speed on the road with the windows down, and sunroof open, you can't hear SH*T! I have some questions.

#1 Can everyone post what they got? So we can see who has what gear and what they think of it. Maybe even plans for more upgrades and so on. What type of music, etc.

#2 What batteries do your guys use? Anyone who upgraded? If so, what battery did you upgrade to? How much CCA, Amperage rating?

Thanks for any response.

Im running two fosgate amplifiers (Punch 160a2 and a Punch 250a2), The 160a2 is pushing A Kappa Perfect component set (2 6.5's and 2 tweeters) and also Kappa 6x9 3ways, the 250a2 is pushing a JL 12w6, everything is running off of a Clarion DRX9575Rz head unit.its a real sweet setup and the sound is everything i wanted. Only took me about 2 months to get everything the way i wanted =) As for the battery its a Pro Start...

I don't have this system now but should around Christmas:
Pioneer P-7200(organic display), Pioneer 3-way 6.5's up front and 3-way 5.25 in the back, Crunch V-Drive 150c powering one 12" Ultimate Sub. And after haveing that for a while I will get a 4 channel Crunch amp to power my speakers. Hopefully my sub will be mounted in a custom fibereglass enclousure on the right side of the trunk (like JL's box for our cars)

Nevermind the system I explained above. I got a Crunch power Series 2100 amp and DHD 500 watt 12" sub in a bandpass box today and it bumps good. By Christmas I should have a Pioneer 5200 headunit, and if I get enough money, i will also get some speakers to replace my stock ones.

Here's mine and most added within the last 2wks. MB Quart DSD216 6.5" components in the doors. MB Quart DKC 6.5" coaxials in the rear. One JL Audio 10W3 stealth box sub. Head unit is a Panasonic DFX150U, Sony in dash X-over, MTX Thunder 302 amp driving the main speakers and one (old) Hifonics Vulcan driving the sub. Only thing left to do is replace the Hifonics with another MTX Thunder 302 amp and replace the JL 10W3 with an Infinity Perfect 10.

Im still workin on it but here it is.Panasonic CQ-DF700U head unit, Kenwood KAC-728S amp (300w RMS),12" Rockford Power DVC in sealed Q-logic box.Stock speakers and cheap battery.
Considering having a fiberglass box built into my spare tire well, but thats still kinda scary. No spare tire? I was quoted at $250 installed for it, and the dude said it wouldnt be too permanent if I wanted to take it out.
Next month: Rockford Fanatic X Components all around on stereo's amp(23w RMS).

PS: Ive never heard of that problem before thats odd.

This is what I have in my rear. 1st off, no rear seats or bench separating the cabin from the trunk and I have 900W feeding into my subwoofers. Powering my Big Bad Boy speaker (Cerwin Vega SE 1000W 12") is a measly Jenson 400W set for running at 4ohms at it's Crossover. This speaker ONLY speaker hits LOW BASS. I set it that way because 12" Subs can hit bass frequencies lower than 10's. My 2 10"s are powered by a PPI at 500W (upgraded from RockFos) and it's crossover is set at high bass frequencies. Sitting in my rear where the factory 5 1/4" speakers were, are Pioneer 6x9's at 200W and in the front are some NICE coaxial 6 1/2" Cadence Ultrashock US65's - I love these. They are extremely loud and compliment my 3 subs. I bought them though because they have VERY good treble and I bought them for like $150.

I got from Pep-Boys the biggest battery with the most Cranking AMPS I could reasonably fit in the car. The Battery is f*cking HUGE. Its for a Chevy 1500 or something like that, but my rear is stripped out and my battery has been relocated there. It's bolted down near the spare tire well on the passenger-side at the very end of the car to offset my weight in an effort to properly balance the car. It's great because my AMPS have 4 Gauge power wire running to them and they are close together. It's a Prostart with 5 year warranty. Car starts every time instantly and VERY strong even while it pounds out 2400Watts worth of speaker If I didn't get the Prostart I would've bought the Sears Diehard(this is actually my 1st choice). I don't care for weak ass light-weight batteries cause they can't give the power I need. My battery weighs a ton but it's worth it and I use the weight. Hell I need the weight back there I'm using the RM GSX rear Sway bar.

I just redid all my old speaker wire and upgraded to Monster Wires. man it made a huge difference. I had a sony cd player but it busted on my saturday so i took the wifie's. it is a pioneer. I got a new Kenwood 600w amp to run the mids and highs with 2 kappa 6 1/2's and 2 tweets and 2 kenwood 6x9 4 ways. When i get this amp hooked up it is gonna sound good! I upgraded my battery from a crappy champion (piece of shit), to a sears diehard, the gold series. everything works great now. it hits hard!!!

In my 95 GS there are:
Polk Audio's in the front with the components installed where the factory ones where on the dash.
Polk Audio's in the rear
8" Bazooka Sub (Hey, it does its job quite well)
250 Watt Rockford Fosgate powering the Bazooka
300 Watt Sony powering all the Polk's
Kenwood in dash CD player
Bosch battery. Everything works quite well.

As for my system i have
Blaupunkt Nevada cd player (getting a new deck soon)
2 Audiobahn aw1205 subs (they hit hard as hell)
Audiobahn a275hc amp
Audiobahn as65c 3 way speakers (nice sound)
Audiobahn abd39 bass driver (not installed yet)
Audiobahn competition rca cables (not in yet)
Stinger 4 guage amp kit (not in yet)

and im getting a a435hc 4 channel amp and the abc600 components.

Right now its all thrown in with wal-mart wiring lol but its still sounds great. I'm doing a custom fiberglass box and q-forms kick panels for the components.

As for the battery i have a cheesy pep-boys one too its sucks, its too big i can't even put my strut brace on. My friend has a Stinger dry cell battery and it works nice (he does wholesale too, so if anyone wants anything let me know and i'll check it out), and its really little. I'll have one of those soon, i'll let ya know how it works.

i have a sony es MD headunit with voice command (been into minidiscs since 1992)also it has awesome surround sound dsp modes!!, sony es synthesized EQ with spectrum analyzer, mobile authority 5.6" LCD color screen, a sony es 10-disc changer, sony XT-40v TV Tuner (off air stations 1-68 i believe), sony s-360 HOME dvd player, VCR, rockford 10's (2)in a bandpass enclosure (these boxes are nice with the rocks), rockford 250a2 amp down to 2 ohms, koss power inverter (300 watt...only use maybe 17 watts), .5 cap with digital display... its fununy, i have it setup on the speaker box so i can see the reflection of the display in the back window .. i use the stock speakers in the front and back. they work nicely. running 8 guage wire and esoteric audio battery with gold plated distribution plates on the top of the battery (and 80a fuse). plan to get a ps/2 but waiting for the next production units to ship (had some software bugs in the first run..what piece of equipment doesnt).

Installed

panasonic DFX-600u or whatever the letters are gettin rid of it soon enough

focal 6.5's in the doors

focal 6.5's in the rear

planned;
yikes ok here we go

hopefully quart q's so i can get some decent tweets with mids taht aren't 850 a peice (focal)

zapco 4.0 and 6.0

2 eclipse 12's

2 1 farad caps (one on each amp)

may go with focal all the way around still thinkin about it. i don't do alot with car audio i'm more into fixin the damn thing. but i have great installers. they made the blue talon on page 18 in the newest issue of car A&S. they tons of other cars in mags. they also compete in IASCA 1-750 ultimate i think it is they have a subaru with 4 15" HCCA's and two xtreme 1400's on each sub they hit 174.1 in nationals last year

BLAH should be getting $5000 insurence check pretty soon though. =)
