It's all in the prep/finish work. If you do the prep and finish work yourself and pay a little extra for extra coats of clear to polish the crap out of then you can get a decent result from Maaco. Basically you have to bring them a shell that's already had the glass and trim removed and all the prep work done, then expect to spend just as much time finishing and sealing the paint to keep it nice. Of course by the time you've done all that you could have saved up for a good paint job somewhere else. Another option is to paint it yourself. The Duplicolor paintshop paints seem to be pretty decent quality IMO, and with the proper prep/finish you can end up with a good looking car for cheaper than Maaco.
Wow, that's crazy. Do you have to wet sand and buff after the paint job from them too? Lol. For all that work you might as well just do it yourself and save IMO.
