After texting with you it sounds like you need either the rods that go between the latch and the outer handle or a new latch assembly and handle and everything in between. depends on the amount of damage done by the PO.

Caps doesn't show the rods being available separately from the latch mechanism. I do know that the lock rod came off of my non power latch just fine, but the handle rod I don't remember.
