#5449, "resistance going into 3rd/4th?"

Probably shifter cable slop, imo, but I'd like to be sure.

Started last night. When shifting into 3rd or 4th, it's almost as if there is something blocking the lever from going into the gate. It's *almost* as if I have to go "wide" with the shift when aiming for the gear.

Trans fluid is likely 2+ years old. Spent a lot of that time just sitting (before I bought the car). We left it in there after the rebuild in case seals had dried out - we didn't want to be leaking the good stuff everywhere. I have BG Synchroshift ready to go in as soon as I get a chance.

Synchros in 1, 2, and 3 will *sometimes* grind a bit. As usual, 1st is worst. Popped out of gear on me once back when it first fired up, but no problems since.

Think this might be due to stale fluid and possibly a rotting rubber grommet on a shift cable? So sayeth the newbie, "I don't have a lot of time to search."

Thanks, fellas.
