The points system was originally intended to be used as a rating system for sales transactions. Like eBay feedback, so to speak. Of course, it's been used for other reasons, but if someone helps you out or steps on their dick, it is used for that too.

The more active you are, the faster you will earn points. Just give it time and don't worry about it any.
