I race in lemons, but not in a 2G. There are a couple of 1G's that race in the Gulf Coast region, though.
Start with a shell that already has four wheel disc and a manual trans.
I'd strip it to the bones, sell anything with more than scrap, cage it to spec, do gsx brakes, neon oil pan with a scraper at least or a full windage tray from IJ at best, bone stock motor otherwise. Make the exhaust work somehow, it only has to make it behind the driver before it dumps. With lemons, you want it really simple and familiar so when the inevitable catastrophic failure occurs, you know exactly what to do to get back on the track add fast as possible.
Then I'd race the shit out of it until it dies, fix and repeat.
I've heard the Judges state that there has never been a DSM that finished a lemons race.
