See, this here is one of the times when McCain relating the whole military career and POW thing would be pertinent. (As opposed to finding a way to tie it to just about any other question or issue, not that I have any understanding of how such things affect a person.)

Having started out in the military, there is no way he was rich. Being in the military, even as an officer, there is no way he was rich. Now, marrying the daughter of a wealthy businessman who is pretty much responsible for all the BEER in the state of Arizona, that might be marrying into some money, but I'd venture to say that McCain's been through shit that would make 90% of the people in this country piss themselves and cry like a baby inside of 60 seconds.

Does he need to bring that shit up over and over again? No. It kind of cheapens it if you ask me, but still, don't need to have people thinking he's a career rich kid any more than Obama.

As petty as it might sound, all the issues aside (since our system of checks and balances will effectively render any candidate ineffective as they all succumb to continued special interest lobbying and the like) right now, I'm actually considering the following, relatively trivial points...

McCain - Military background. A real patriot in the old school sense of the word. Not a big fan on his age, Space Cadet Palin choice, or how he's changed his stance so far. Is he just playing the game to get in? Or is he just trying to pander to the queers and wetbacks in favor of Obama?

Obama - He's been rallying the people for change since Day 1. He's talked about reducing taxes. Typically not a calling card of the Democratic party, but I look back now and think things weren't so bad with Bill, so... I don't see his lack of all kinds of specifics for his plans at this point. Show me a plan that was proposed and passed into law without any partisan bullshit and modification in the process. It doesn't happen. IMO, ideals and big picture goals are more important at this stage of the game. What is important. What is not. I could give a shit how we get to A, B, or C. So long as we get there.

And hell, I'm down with a little socialism now and then. This closet facism we've got right now is retarded. Raise taxes on the upper 5% of society and cut them for the rest of us.

Of course, I might just vote for someone else entirely just to send a message. I'm still mulling it over. I will say, however, that if you're getting all your information from ANY TV SOURCE, you're probably not well informed. The TV is rapidly becoming the LEAST credible source of information available. It's the idiot box because people who watch too much TV are effectively idiots.
