Normally, you can feel the play on bad inner tie rods. Try taking the tie rod end out of the knuckle on one side, then try to push and pull on the inner tie rod and feel for play, then check the other side.

If you have a bad cv joint, and one side is not turning smoothly it can hang and cause vibration and pull.
