coil overs are just as safe as springs if they're installed correctly. some cheaper coils may have had safety issues because of the way they worked but they've been around long enough to trust. you will most likely get a bouncy ride from coils. if you plan an aggressive drop than anything will make you bounce so it's up to you in the end.
