i have heard a few people say that coilovers should only be used for show cars and shouldent be used in daily drivers. is this true?? how many of you run coil overs on your daily driver?? right now im looking at some R1's, maxspeed's, or areospeed's. id like to get some skunk 2's but i dont have the money. anyways, id like some input on the saftey of coilovers. thanks!

Yes, if installed properly coilovers are pretty safe. I have AroSpeed coilovers and haven't had any problems with them. However, if I could go back, I would've gotten lowering springs instead because I've heard they provide a better ride. Can't go back now... unless I weld some perches back on my shocks...

Basically the only good reason to get coilovers is if you're real anal about setting the ride height exactly like you want it. I spend weeks adjusting and readjusting each corner up or down 1/16" until I got it just right. :thumbsup

Never a problem here with the skunk2's! I really like the ride they provide. I have heard that a lot of people with the cheap coilovers are very disappointed with the ride. Just goes to show that you get what you pay for!

I have coilovers I like them cuz they made the car sit even with out lowering them at all but the ride I think is a little more bounce then I thought it would be duno who make mine I forgot but their blue I know one good thing is you can all ways go lower with them I'm low enought with mine I got 17' new eclipse rims with 225/45 tires on them and got no gap all the way around and thats all I wanted .

coil overs are just as safe as springs if they're installed correctly. some cheaper coils may have had safety issues because of the way they worked but they've been around long enough to trust. you will most likely get a bouncy ride from coils. if you plan an aggressive drop than anything will make you bounce so it's up to you in the end.
