#2727, "RE: Coolant corrected air density" In response to In response to 1 Nov-03-06 04:35 AM by XtremeRS
I use this on my RS..It can be set up for coolant correction, OR intake Air temp correction. I had some lean re-start issues, where the IAT would get heat soaked, and on a hot restart it would run a bit rough until EGO correction kicked in. After further digging with the issue, i've come to my own personal conclusion that the air temp correction factor is too "aggressive" as intake air temps rise, at least on our engine setups. The correction factor is pulling out too much fuel, as IAT rises in temperature.. It's easily seen by just running closed loop at idle, and watching the o2 trim value increase fueling as IAT rises. It shouldnt do that, providing the correction factor for IAT is set correctly. So I used the IAT corrected air density factor, and that pretty much solved my lean start issues. When you change it to IAT be aware that the graph will still show coolant..but its correcting IAT. I just adjusted to where my o2 trim was close to 100% when it was just warmed up, then adjusted it on a hot restart. It worked really well. Just makes me wonder if that correction factor is off, then it will be off in boost too..
