I'd start with a compression test and general cleaning to look for leaks. Sounds like you have your shit covered.
230 miles really isn't that big of a deal, I just did 200+ miles the other day running around to various places. Hell, I did 300 miles in one day during 90*+ weather last summer with a bad headgasket running the heat to keep the temps down and the car did fine.
