the spray is worthless, i've used it before and to get any decent coating, you've gotta spend like 75 bucks a panel. if you've got a super-curvy surface and there's no way you can get mat on there, use fiberglass resin mixed with sand(it's as fun to work with as it sounds)

I ordered like 200sq ft of mat from mcmaster and used all of that on the floorboards, rear quarterpanels, and the trunk. I did a friend's escort the next weekend, and we used 75sq feet in his and his is just about as quiet as mine. I "wasted" alot of it by covering every peice of metal I could find, when you really just need to use the mat in the big problem areas.

I don't think I't's metal(if it is it's my strut bar squeaking) I think it's just my rear panels because most of them are pretty loose from coming on and off while I've been working back there. once the trunk is done, I won't have those panels in the car, thus, no noise.

yeah, you can probably find it in the walls of your house. it's usually yellow and will say sound control on it. you'll be amazed at how much of that you can use.

I used resin on the door panels because I've got 8s in there and they used to rattle alot! but pretty much every panel in the car can be matted so resin really isn't needed.

mat....maybe a day or two
insulation....till you get all the dust out
resin....smells pretty strong the first day or two, but will go away after that. I work with it almost everyday and it doesn't bother me anymore.

that's where I used the 4 layers and 2 layers of carpet padding, and it's still pretty loud. it's tough to deaden those low frequencies
