#29, "Anyone have this problem after the turbo?"

My oil is spraying out of the crankcase vent. My breather is soaked in oil and so is my valve cover. Not to mention a small puddle built up on top of my tranny. Any suggestions for a fix?

hate to say it, but sounds like you have some cracked pistons. It could possibly be a clogged PCV valve but I have yet to see one fail and casue that. Take out your PCV valve and make sur eit works (its just a big check valve) if it doesn't seal, then thats why you are getting positive crankcase pressure and oil is blowing out your breather. Otherwise, look toward a couple cracked pistons. Does the car idle ok? What is your pressure at idle?
I believe on a well working engine our idle pressure @ idle should be around (-)17-21 in/hg.
Good luck,

Where is this crankcase breather / PCV valve thingy? I need to know so I know what is where and such...

BTW, what causes cracked pistons?

Usually its no real big deal, and some hard cornering while driving hard will do this.

Also sometime if the engine is overfilled with oil same thing.

Now an extremes is blow-by.
That's what I have.

You may have to consider your piston rings. I know that mine are shot. See what happens is if the rings let exhaust fumes through, these get into the oil, and push some out of it through the nearest exit...usually the breather!

In my case the "breather" filter got clogged with so much oil, that my camshaft seal blew out...

Good Luck

I have the same problem but mine is so extreme that I can't drive it, I just replaced my PVC valve just beacause it was cracked ,that didn't help, I believe Rs_Guy is right, I think it's either the piston rings or head gasket, Though at idle I believe my idle is 16-hz... Or whatever, I have to double check, But At initial start up, if I take out the dipstick half way, smoke comes out ,I think white smoke or light colored smoke, same out of my crankcase breather. Which sucks now since I found the last leak in BOV line whick I can finally run over 5psi then this happens, Not sure what I'm going to do.......

I had the same problem. all what I can say is, do a compression test, start from the cylinder closest to the battery (#4), why, cause I am pretty sure that very cylinder (piston or ring) is shot already. you are looking at 160+ psi, if you have lower than that (I had 20psi) then it's time for a rebuild.

good luck and hope for the best.
I hope I am wrong tho.

Sorry man, but i will bet my left nut you broke a ring land. Spend the cash and buy at least forged pistons.

I'm guessing that in the 3 years since that post was started, he's probably fixed the car.
