Ok, I've heard this before as to when to shift at the track to improve times, but does it help....when in first, is shifting at 6.5k rpm really better than redline or fuel cut? Is it better to recline every gear or will it get you better times, even when racing, to shift before then? And please throw out some rmp ranges for certain gears if you shouldn't redline.

i would think it depends on your mods, and if you are auto or manual.

i am manual, and when i was stock, i didnt feel like anything above 6500 rpms helped me move anyfaster. now that i am modded, i take it to redline in both 1st and 2nd, at 67-6900 i shift from 3rd to fourth, and then milk fourth for all its got. fourth can get u upwards of 120+

it all depends on your mods, and your experiences with your ride.

yeah vegasdsmr is right. Our cars are tuned to make power at certain rpms. I believe for stock our power gear is 3rd so you'd redline that. The rest of the gears you power tops off at 6.5 so if you go past 6.5 you won't feel it pull as must so you should just shift. I guess it depends on mods also, not too sure myself on that. Hehe but if you have hella highcompression your power is up top I know that.

Port the manifold and you will notice the car still pulls past 6500 rpm. I shift at 7000 in 1st and 7200 in all the other gears.

stock our cars are good with mid range torque. fomr 3-6 thousand is the optimal torque output. i'm pretty sure our torque curve stays pretty level here not all spikey or late rising like the vtec cars. with basic bolt ons the only reason you have to shift past 6k is to get in better revs in the next gear. also top end power is made from exhasut upgrades so if you have modified exhaust you will not only get mor top end pull but after shifting at high rpms or even redline you will be at higher revs in the next gear as opposed to stock exhaust, i personally noticed that while stock exhaust if i shifted at redline i would get dropped down to 4000 rpms(loose shifter) than after just a muffler i bumped up 400rpms and i would be at about 4400rpms in in third

thanks beefgg for the sig
