now before you go and pick 200+, how many cars on the street are actually running that horsepower, that is why I said on average.

130-150HP to the wheels is pretty quick for a sport compact (I4 fwd) car.

i voted for the 111-130 catigory.

all the SUVs with monster engines could throw this off a little, but considering they way 2-3 tons, the ratio eliminates them in my book. most average cars are not putting that much power to the wheels (BTW...the figue i voted for is wheel HP). if your talkign about moded cars, most people either dont do that much or do it wrong to begin with, so they dont gain much over stock. your average civic with a couple grand invested is still only about 150-180 at the wheels (at MOST), so its not that much.

also, you are forgetting torque, wich is just as important imo. plus, it all depends on the driver. someone in a 300 HP beast that babies the clutch will loose to a 200 HP car that is driven like mad.

i noticed you other post about HP, thats why im writing so much.

in responce to the other post you have, im guestimating 130 at the wheels (if you are manual), but the mods you have done so far are more for "potential" and for power.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:

Are you talking about the average of every car? the average of people that mod there car? or at the races? This will depend greatly on where you live also. LA cars are not going to be the same as Ohio cars get the idea.

^What he said.

a 200whp car of average weight is a 14second car (notice i said average weight an 1800lb crx w/ 200whp is good for 12s)...

I would consider a 14sec car reasonably quick, but go out to S.FL,Houston,LA, etc street races and a 14sec car is gonna be one of the slower cars out there

last time on the dyno i made over 200whp and 200ftlbs on bitch boost, and i never considered my car to be anything more than average :

I voted for 200 becuase most of some of those future cars that are coming out have 200+ Most of our turbo powered eclipse have 240+ and the new lancer, rx8, r35. The HP WALL is being TORN down by Japan super cars.

i pretty much meant cars on the street, not going to the races with cars made just for the strip or running race gas. I meant mostly modded cars on the street or like someone said, suv or the norm. I just wanted to know where mine and your cars rated in the spectrum with some mods.

If you take a look at much of the newer car market, you will find many cars that are rated at 200+ HP. This includes SUV's, imports, and the sedans. Our stock 140 HP just isnt going to cut it very well on the streets..thats why i got a turbo!

If you ride in a lot of cars that have 200+, they still spank Eclipses, a lot of modded ones as well, maybe not the turbo ones. I mean, my Q45 will blow away an Eclipse normally. And when it comes to other sports cars, my buddy's 90 5.0 with only 3.73 gears barely has to try against the highly modded Civics in the area.

Well alot of cars are out and coming out. I really don't consider a "rival" anything less than 200hp. Only cause it's really not fun smoking a Civic SI, or such. But say a GTI, WRX, Type-R, or RSX type-S. That's quick in street terms. Even the new Neon SRT-4. But new cars like the SVT Focus or the new Mazdaspeed, Cavalier, Probe, Celica, etc just don't cut it to me...

<it all depends on the driver. someone in a 300 HP beast that babies the clutch will loose to a 200 HP car that is driven like mad.>

heh, that's what i love about our cars. most people don't push their cars, and when you push a 2gnt (5sp thinking) it's a great feeling.

although driving my sisters car (my old 90 Buick Skylark) i realized that it's roughly the same accelleration, minus the fact that that poor poor buick desperately needs a tune up. and possibly a new trans (thanks to me and going through 2 sets of tires on it *i brought new meaning to smoke em if you got em)

anywho. it's all in how you drive it. i've gotten my 2.5L 4 banger buick to do things that surprised people. of course my ever wonderful talon is no different, except better in every way.

I consider 13's to be quick for the street. If you can be beaten by a good production car (STi, RX7, Supra, etc.) then you are not quick. To me quick is 12 sec +, fast is below 12 sec. Jus my $.02 and whatnot.

I also chose 200+ hp because based purely on the japanese family cars out now. Honda Accord - 240 hp, Nissan Altima - 245 hp, TL-S - 260 hp. The altima puts 200 hp to the wheels in manual form, or 190 hp automatic typically. I would say a high 14 second car is pretty quick on average for the street. Definitely need at least low to mid 15's to be decent nowadays...

When it comes to modded cars here in FL, 200 HP is nothing, 300 is when you are getting somewhere and 400 is where the fun is. There are a few guys making 400+ and most make between 250 and 350.
