So no bolts on Friday and none yet today (although UPS gets her very late in the day). I have requested a tracking number so we will see what happens from there. They said 5-7 days, but did not specify just days or business days. I should know something from them today.

I have no other updates as of now. I did some checking on the batch of bars that failed and the only thing I could figure was that it was bad welding rods. (Don't worry, I checked the others and they are fine and I disposed of the bad rods and bars.)

Yes they are. You can order them anytime however, 1. The price is not the GB price. It is the full retail price. 2. You have to wait for yours until all GB bars are shipped.

Any reason you didn't want to order them out of the mcmaster-carr catalog??? They are probably the biggest general parts supplier in the country.

45mm long part number = "91180A640"
50mm long part number = "91180A642"

If you order them today - they will be at your house tommorrow.

My company buys our fasteners from:

I would bet they have them, too.

this whole ordeal has accually been a little humorous in a way.. or at least just hearing about how these bolts are so hard to get ahold of or something, just kinda made me laugh.

but anyhow.. kinda crazy that these bolts are so hard to get ahold of.. hopefully these things will work out and we can get our bars.

I need 10.9 grade. Note that those are listed as medium grade. I would not want my life to depend on medium grade! LOL!

I am #2 on this group buy... i have not posted on any thread until now. I would rather get the right thing the first time then get something that "might" work. Yes we have all waited a long time on this group buy... But look at what we are getting and the price we paid. Anyone who has any experience in project management will tell you, if you want it good and cheap it will not be done fast... I think glenn is doing a good job on keeping us updated. We will get what we paid for, and i hope every single person who gets thier tie-bars will give glenn some appreciation for the work he has done.

Did you ever get the BOLTS YET. This is CRAZY. How many months has it been. WTF.

You must be the Most Unlucky Guy there is when It comes to ordering stuff online.

I thought they were sending it Overnight - What's the Deal.

I mean - We don't mind that it's taking a long time because you want to do a good/great job on the bars but a month plus to order some bolts - that's crazy.

Please keep us posted and we will keep waiting.

Nope. Still no bolts. Trust me, I am irritated as all hell. I ordered them from Maryland Metric (The 3rd company) and now they claim they never got my order. It has pissed me off enough that this will be the only group buy on these bars. Once this order is filled I will not be offering them anymore. I am no longer taking new orders for them either. This has become too much of a pain. I will put another call into mdmetric today and see what the current status is.

UPDATE:

I just got off the phone with the secretary at Maryland Metric and she said that there was bad news. My first thought was that I was not getting the bolts. But she said they were in transit from wherever and would not be there (Maryland) until Wednesday or Thursday of next week. They would then ship to me. She said that the reason it took so long was that they had to special order them. It seems the sales guy was just excited about making the sale that he did not check on the availability of these bolts. They had to have them made! Custom bolts for custom tiebars! LOL! So anyway, she said that shipping from them to me is about 3 days (Sorry, but I can not afford $64.00 for over night!!) So that puts them in my posession (if they do not delay in shipping them) Tuesday Sept 10th. And I will begin shipping the next day.

LOL! With my luck the way it is, I would order the LE plates and it would take 6 months to get here! Grrrr!

I will be glad when it is over.

I did order 4X the number of bolts I needed. So maybe I will turn out a few more. I am not sure I will do another GB though. I think I will make a few and offer them. But if I do not have any made I will not take orders for them. But I am sure none of you care about that. Just everyone keep your fingers crossed that the bolts get here!

I am close to getting my lathe and tap and die kit ready to make some of these bolts. What size and how long do they need to me? I can find some hardened steel rods, lathe down parts of it to the right size, cut the bar, cut the hex on the top for a socket or wrench, and chase the die down the rod to make threads of the appropriate size... Seriously, though, can't wait for them to finally come in. I have never had any issues with MD Metric, though. I use them all of the time for work.

Seriously though, that would really suck if you actually lost money helping out your fellow 2gnt members... Lots and lots of thanks for being so dedicated to the project. Everyone should chip in a dollar or something and get Glenn a gift certificate to some massage parlor. He deserves it after 130+ days of stressing out for our sake. =)

Actually, yes. It cost me more to make them then what I charged. That is why I said before that if there was to be a second buy that they would be more. It is no ones fault other than my own. OH, and it was not a full first batch that failed. I build them in batches of 12. It was only 12 that failed. But thanks for the positives.

Also: As of 10am EST there is still no bolts. If they do not show up today (UPS comes late) I will call tomorrow and see what the deal is.
