#2087, "1/8 mile track times"

So i went to the track. Only problem is it was a
1/8 mile track. Could somebody tell me what that would mean if i ran the 1/4. any help would be greatly appreciated. BTW when i went to the track there was only like 3 imports and about 300 camaros, MY best time was 10.7 and i never really got the hang of the green light

i usually hit around 10.4 at the 1/8, but when i run a 16.7 or 16.8, its usually 10.7 or 10.8 in the 1/8

when my car was stock I averaged around a 10.3. Now I have a short ram intake and bored throttle body and I pull 10.0's or 9.9's usually. You did pretty good, oh, and don't worry about the mustangs, if it's a 5.0 they are fast in the 1/8th, but that's what they are built for.

if your averaging 10.3 stock and now 9.9's with just those mods..you've got some kind of freak car....a 9.9 is getting down to the 15.5 range...and thats very very fast for just those mods...and you really need to be an expert driver to get that...

yeah, I'm a pretty good driver. My car hauls ass. I've only raced one other 2gnt, it was a 5-speed eclipse with AEM CAI and Greddy header and exhaust and UDP. I owned him, badly, very badly. This was before my tb too. From what I've gathered, my tb boring made about a 1 1/2 car difference in the 1/4, because a car that used to beat me by 2 cars (modded '99 SI) now only beats me by like a fender.

ok thats crazy guys, i think the track that i go to is actually a little longer than an 1/8 mile, because i went last night and a civic si and a intergra gsr both ran roun 10.3 or higher, and i defenitly was runnin strong and my best time was still 10.743, my point is no way at the track i go to that a 2gnt could run a 10.5 let alone a 10.3

i can post my times reactions if you like

i need to go to the 1/4 mile track to see what my car is really capable of

Well, if we're talking about a 10.0, then you're doing pretty good. If we're talking about a 10.3-10.6, then that's okay I guess, good enough to beat a civic anyway. Take out those subs for racing and it will help some. Just keep becoming a better driver... that makes more of a difference than anything.

yeah, mine are pretty bald right now. It's funny because when I first got my car, everyone I raced swore it was all wheel drive because of how well I could launch it. I'll have new Toyo T1-S's soon though, that will be good I finally found them in a 14.

Hey, I'm an Automatic Nt and I ran a 10.4 last night. Are there any other automatics out there? What did you guys run in the 1/8 and with what mods. I'm in alabama, so we don't get the privelage of the 1/4.

Anyway I was racing a 95 rs with basically same mods as mine except she also had cold air vs. my short intake, and ingition, and she had a 5spd. Even with her 50 shot nitrous she only beat me by .150. Is my car doing really good, or is hers just a piece?

you're right, GSR's and SI's only run 10.3's, and I embarrass both of those cars. Don't hold honda's in such high standings. Heather, you are doing very well for an automatic 2gnt, keep up the great work. My best time thus far is a 9.9 in the 1/8th.

put on some 14's with sticky tires, bore out that throttle body, lose the neons and the subs and you'll do better. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices between show and go, my car is all go, with nothing at all behind the back seat, and it's a base model, manual windows, manual locks, no rear windshield wiper, no sunroof, 5 speed... My car weighs right at 2640 lbs. Also, not to sound... crass, but learn to drive as well as possible. The best mod that anyone can do to their car is to go to a high performance driving school.

Just went to the drag and I ran 10.3 on the 1/8 and 15.9 at teh 1/4 mile running only 4 psi on the turbo. I really need a boost controller.

17" rims/tyres will KILL your ET. Simply put. If you are naturally aspirated, then you aren't making a ton of torque in the universal sense (we do alright for a 2.0 I4). The worst place to put weight is at the end of the halfshafts. Especially when you are putting the weight further from the center of rotation. When weight is further from the center of rotation, it is more difficult to push. If you were to take a baseball bat and put a 10 lb weight on the handle, swinging it wouldn't be much more of a challenge. Move that weight out to the end of the bat, however, and you will feel a huge difference. The more torque that is applied to the wheel, the less the weight and diameter of the wheel matters. For a 2G NA DSM (with a 2.0... hehe...), 17" rims, especially if they are not lightweight, spell a high ET and a fairly low MPH. Your motor has more in her, but your driveline is sapping it all up. I would recommend racing on stock rims and getting an underdrive pulley. The car will rev like you would never believe it would.
