17" rims/tyres will KILL your ET. Simply put. If you are naturally aspirated, then you aren't making a ton of torque in the universal sense (we do alright for a 2.0 I4). The worst place to put weight is at the end of the halfshafts. Especially when you are putting the weight further from the center of rotation. When weight is further from the center of rotation, it is more difficult to push. If you were to take a baseball bat and put a 10 lb weight on the handle, swinging it wouldn't be much more of a challenge. Move that weight out to the end of the bat, however, and you will feel a huge difference. The more torque that is applied to the wheel, the less the weight and diameter of the wheel matters. For a 2G NA DSM (with a 2.0... hehe...), 17" rims, especially if they are not lightweight, spell a high ET and a fairly low MPH. Your motor has more in her, but your driveline is sapping it all up. I would recommend racing on stock rims and getting an underdrive pulley. The car will rev like you would never believe it would.
