Well theoretically you can replace the msd for timing retard, but Vinnie(kiku) and I have been trying to get the ignition part of of the emanage to work on our car with no luck so far. I think it may be the same issue that a msd unit has that makes the tach adapter a necessity. vinnie said when he installed his ignition harness that the car did not start at all. when i installed mine (after the msd tach adapter) my car started and then idled rough then smoothed out and then completely shut down. soooo, we probably can use this unit to retard, but currently we have not found a work around for this. Vinnie was talking to some people about this issue and they were saying that we probably needed some kind of adapter for our cars but he and I have been busy and have not had too much time to look into it. you also have to remember that the MSD unit is not just a retard unit it is also an ignition amplifier so you will probably not get as much benefit with just the emanage alone.
