I do know people who have had problems with total seal rings... but none of them were on 420A's.

And personally I don't see ANY reason not to use regular style rings... I've never had any problems with standard rings.

A good friend of mine who builds race engines... 700 and 800 HP race engines doesn't like the total seals either. He's known people who had problems on high HP motors. He machines normal rings to perfection... the guy is a ring filing wizard. If you take your time ad do the math when setting the end gaps... you'll be perfect with the JE rings.

I also used Hastings rings before on a 420A with good success.
